Brewers defender Ryan Austin has completed his first full 90 minutes on his return from the serious knee injury which has seen him sidelined since November.
Austin played a full part in a behind closed doors friendly match against Wolves on Tuesday. After the match Ryan said, 'It was really pleasing to get through 90 minutes, the knee felt fine. I think coming into this kind of game it's natural to be a bit nervous about how it is going to be having been out for so long. It was nice to play longer than five minutes after what happened last week.
'I wouldn't say I was hesitant about going into tackles during the game though. In game situations tackles happen and you need to be ready for that. There were a few occasions today where i went into tackles or jumped for a header and landed on the knee but it was fine. I don't think the original plan was for me to play the whole 90 minutes but at half time I was still feeling good do I stayed on. I'll probably be a bit stiff in the morning though.
'I think now after one or two more of these practice games I'll be ready and available for selection, obviously it's down to the manager though. I'm definitely raring to go.'
Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido, who watched the game, said, 'Ryan came through fine, I'm delighted, he looked quite comfortable. It's a big pyschological boost for him.
'He was able to compete and the injury looked strong. It's important now that mentally he regains the confidence in his knee before he comes back into the first team. At the moment it's still too early to put a date on when he will be ready for the first team.'
The Burton Albion side which featured first team squad members Greg Pearson, Jimmy Phillips, Jack Dyer, James Ellison and Kevin Grocott, lost 3-0 to Wolves, who included Richard Stearman, Greg Halford and new loan signing Marcus Bent.
