UPDATED 03:13 16th July 2012

A tough tackling, no nonsense centre half, Nathan has become an important part of the Brewers defence since joining the club in the summer of 2010 after rejecting a new contract with former club Rochdale. Originally from Nottingham, Nathan began his career with Scunthorpe United making his debut for the ‘Iron’ as a sixteen year old and going on to make over 250 appearances for the Glandford Park side skippering the side on many occasions. His powerful performances were recognised by several appearances in the end of year select XI’s at the Football League awards. After seven years with Scunthorpe, Nathan opted to move to Rochdale which coincided with the rise of ‘Dale through League 2 and culminating in promotion in 2009-10, the clubs first promotion in over 40 years after two years of missing out in the play-offs. Nathan overcame a serious knee injury to play a big part in the Brewers defence last season, skippering the side towards the end of the campaign and earning himself a new deal for 2012-13.
