UPDATED 03:28 24th July 2014 Jon signed for the Brewers just a day after leaving League 1 side Bradford City towards the end of July. The tall, commanding Scotsman turning down a contract offer from the Bantams to link up with the Brewers instead. Jon spent six years with the Bantams having originally trained with the club whilst studying a sports coaching degree at Leeds University. Whilst studying and training Jon played non league football for both Harrogate Railway and Harrogate Town and after a year training with the Bantams a one year contract offer was accepted. After making his debut in the final game of the 2008-09 season against Chesterfield injury prevented him building on his debut at the start of the following campaign but towards the end of the 2009-10 season more chances came his way including an appearance at the Pirelli Stadium where he saved a penalty in a 1-1 draw. After signing a new three year deal at Valley Parade in June 2010 Jon had to do battle with Lenny Pidgeley and then former Brewers stopper Matt Duke for the number 1 spot and capped a successful 2012-13 season with a substitute appearance in the League Cup Final against Swansea and also kept a clean sheet in the League 2 Play-Off Final against Northampton Town weeks later. Following promotion Jon started last season in goal for the Bantams in League 1 and ended up being an ever-present as Bradford re-established themselves in the third tier.
