Jon has been a key part of Burton Albion’s success over the last two seasons after joining the club from Bradford City in the summer of 2014 and celebrated promotion to the Championship by picking up the club’s Player’s Player of the Year Award at the end of last season.
After starting out in non-league with both Harrogate Town and Harrogate Railway Athletic Jon linked up with the Bantams whilst studying a Sports Science degree at Leeds University. His early years at Valley Parade were spent battling with Lenny Pidgeley and Matt Duke for the number one spot with Jon taking his chances to shine when they came including saving a penalty against the Brewers at the Pirelli in one of his early appearances in the first team.
2013-14 saw Jon appear in the Capital One Cup Final when Matt Duke was sent off and he was also a key member of the squad that achieved promotion on their return to Wembley just two months later.
After a season as the regular keeper in League One Jon turned down a new contract to join the Brewers and his consistent performances and crucial saves have helped steer the club to successive promotions with one of the best defences in League One and Two.
