Lucas has been a hugely popular figure with Burton fans having finished both of his two seasons at the club as top scorer as Albion have surged through League 2 and League 1 in successive seasons.
Lucas was signed for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2014 from Stevenage after the Hertfordshire club had been relegated from League One.
Huddersfield born and bred, Lucas joined his home town club as a youngster and made his debut for the Terriers in April 2007 before moving out on loan to Northwich Victoria to get some first team experience under his belt.
After leaving Huddersfield, a spell in Scotland with both Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle led to a move back into English football with Tranmere Rovers.
Some impressive performances led League One side Stevenage to splash out a fee to take Lucas to Broadhall Way and their faith was rewarded as he finished top scorer with ten goals in 49 appearances.
Lucas became a key target for Gary Rowett as he built a side to earn promotion from League Two and his reward for two excellent campaigns was a new two year contract ahead of the current season.
