Albion's wait for a home league win continues as QPR took home all three points from the Pirelli Stadium at the end of a low quality affair.

Aramide Oteh's first senior goal was cancelled out within a minute by Lloyd Dyer's scrambled finish but second half goals from Conor Washington and Massimo Luongo extended Albion's winless run in front of their own fans to eight games as Rangers looked more lively after a drab first half.

Brewers boss Nigel Clough opted to stick with the same side that had taken to the field for the previous two games and on this occasion also opted to stick with the same choice of substitutes to call on.

QPR quickly had a chance to take control of the game but typical of their away form, where they have scored in just one of their last six away games, they failed to capitalise when young forward Aramide Oteh found himself one on one with Stephen Bywater but failed to even hit the target, his shot rising high over the bar.

Albion qiuckly found themselves in behind the QPR defence as Lloyd Dyer scampered to get onto a through pass from Tom Flanagan with only the quick thinking of Alex Smithies in the Rangers goal thwarting him.

The visitors were looking very bright and after capitalising on some generous refereeing Luke Freeman chanced his arm with a low shot that deflected into the path of Conor Washington who forced a fine save from Bywater at his near post.

Rangers were always keen to exploit the long throw abilities of left back Jack Robinson. The former Liverpool youngster possessed a prodigious throw which meant that pretty much any throw in down the left was as good as a corner kick and there were several nervy moments when Albion had to defend in depth and make sure that Bywater was not too seriously tested.

It was pretty poor stuff from both sides util Oteh put Rangers in front on 33 minutes. Josh Scowen had plenty of time to pick out the overlapping run of Darnell Furlong on the right and his simple cross was bundled home at the near post by the Rangers youngster.

Albion's response was immediate though. Akins bustled his way into the area and when he took on Rangers skipper Nedum Onuoha the ball broke kindly for the supporting DYER to take a touch and slide the loose ball beyond Smithies.

Just when it was getting better for Albion they suffered a blow with the lively Miller going down under no challenge and ultimately ending up leaving the field on a stretcher. It looked like a knee problem and he was quickly replaced by Joe Sbarra who slotted straight in on the right hand side.

It was probably fair to say that the goals were the only real highlight of a first half low on quality as both sides sought to end unwanted records, Albion's poor record on home turf and Rangers dismal track record on the road.

Albion won a flurry of corners in the early second half exchanges but the Rangers defence stood firm to weather the storm and get themselves back on the front foot again.

Both Luke Murphy and Kyle McFadzean found themselves in referee Martin's book for fouls on Massimo Luongo and Matt Freeman respectively as then game began to ignite towards the hour mark.

They were quickly followed into the book by Josh Scowen and Joel Lynch as a little bit of niggle crept into the game. Washington had already hit the post from a rebound on his own shot before he finally put one away to give the Londoners the lead. Rangers won a scrappy duel in midfield which allowed Freeman to bisect the Burton defence with a through ball. Washington was onto it in a flash and with Bywater unable to come and claim the Northern Ireland striker calmly took the ball around the Burton keeper before slotting into the empty net.

Albion sent on Marvin Sordell to try and rescue matters with Luke Murphy making way but it was Rangers still looking more threatening as substitute Matt Smith forced an excellent fingertip save from Bywater on 82 minutes.

As Albion pushed forward they were always prey to the counter attack and Rangers finally sealed the points late on as some neat interplay around the edge of the Burton box finally mesmerised the Albion defence allowing Aussie Massimo Luongo to fire home with Bywater unsighted.
