PREVIEW: BRISTOL CITY

Nigel Clough and his side will be hoping for a first ever victory against Bristol City on Saturday to end their winless run at the Pirelli Stadium (3.00pm kick-off). It's also Burton Albion's Family Day at the Pirelli Stadium.

HEAD 2 HEAD
City scrape the upper hand in the three previous meetings between the two sides. The first time the teams faced up was just Albion’s second game in the Championship, as Tammy Abraham’s 94th minute winner stole the spoils following Naylor’s equaliser two minutes from time.

In the two league encounters since then it has been honours even with consecutive 0-0 draws at the rear end of the last campaign and at Ashton Gate in October.

BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS
Question marks hang over the heads of Damien McCrory and Hope Akpan ahead of the game. The former received a knock to the knee during the first half of Tuesday night’s fixture against Brentford and had to be substituted. Whilst Akpan suffered an ankle injury in training that caused him to miss the Brentford clash and his availability for Saturday is still uncertain.

Nigel Clough will also be without John Brayford and Ben Turner as they remain sidelined with calf injuries.

BRISTOL CITY TEAM NEWS
The Brewers gain a boost, though, in the absence of Aden Flint and Joe Bryan for Bristol City following suspensions picked up at Preston North End on Tuesday night. Flint was shown a straight red card for violent conduct whilst Bryan received his tenth caution of the season.

Centre-half Nathan Baker has missed Bristol’s past two encounters with a groin injury and remains a doubt for their trip to the Pirelli on Saturday.

REFEREE
The game will be taken charge by Scott Duncan, who has refereed Burton Albion seven times before brandishing 20 yellow cards and one red to the Brewers.

Duncan has been in the middle for 29 games this season and handed out 82 cautions and a hefty seven sendings off in that period. He was the man in charge when Albion snatched a late 3-2 victory away at Oldham Athletic back in August.

Adam Crysell and Shaun Hudson will be Duncan’s assistants and Geoff Eltringham will take on the role of fourth official.

TICKETS
Albion supporters can still purchase tickets for this afternoon's game against Millwall, and can do so online, over the phone (01283 565938) or in person by visiting the club shop during opening hours.

FAMILY TICKET
The family ticket is available in the North Terrace and will cost just £40 for two adults and two under 17s tickets, which is a saving of £14 on regular match tickets. Additional under 17s tickets can be purchased at the same time as the family ticket for only £3.

CAR PARKING
Supporters can park in the Pirelli Stadium car park for just £5, as well as Burton Albion's overflow car park at Ryknild Industrial Estate, left at the island for £5. the Pirelli Tyres staff car park is available this season (£3 per car).

Burton Albion encourages fans to walk to the ground or use public transport to get to the stadium if possible. Supporters who do come to the ground in vehicles are encouraged to car share.
All supporters are asked to park responsibly and to be aware of parking restrictions and the needs of residents when leaving their vehicles.

PRE-MATCH ACTIVITIES
Throughout the day, there will be a variety of activities taking place inside and outside of the Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) building, starting at 1:30PM. Activities will include face painting, Burton Albion design competitions, inflatable activities and the chance to meet Billy & Bettie Brewer.

BACT will also be working in partnership with the Burton Junior Football League (BJFL), which oversees divisions from under 7s football all the way up to youth football in the Burton area to offer incentives for their teams and families to be a part of the day.

FAMILY AREA
After a successful trial Burton Albion Football Club is making its Family Area a regular feature for the remainder of the 2017-18 Season.

Fans wishing to use the Family Area should enter the ground by the North Stand turnstiles and then turn right and enter the stand at the far end. They should then use section J of the stand which will be reserved for under 16s and their families. No person will be allowed into this area unless they are with an under 16. There will be zero tolerance of bad language in the Family Area.

BAG POLICY
Burton Albion is reminding fans that they are encouraged not to bring bags to the Pirelli Stadium.

The policy is in operation for security and safety reasons and is in line with other football clubs in the EFL.

The club does not permit holdalls and rucksacks in the stands, terraces or in hospitality areas. The club also discourages bringing smaller bags into the ground. Anyone bringing any bag to the Pirelli Stadium will have to have it checked and tagged by security staff. This will mean that supporters must be willing to present their bags for checking on arrival and that there may be queues meaning extra time will be needed to enter the stadium.

MATCH REPORT: BRISTOL C.

A game of few chances saw the Brewers and Bristol City share the points at the Pirelli Stadium as another chance to end Albion's winless home run went begging.

Neither side were at their best on a drizzly afternoon but it was Albion who created the better chances with both Darren Bent and Liam Boyce having decent headed chances in the early stages with Albion not quite able to capitalise on a Bristol side low on confidence after a run of just two wins in their last fifteen outings.

After the disappointment of Tuesday's defeat at home to Brentford and with another tricky away fixture coming up at Sheffield United on Tuesday evening Brewers boss made four changes for the visit of Bristol City. The most significant change saw Darren Bent reintroduced as part of a front two alongside Liam Boyce as Albion reverted to a 4-4-2 formation. Tom Flanagan came in at right back which allowed Lucas Akins to push further forwards on the right flank as an orthohdox winger. On the opposite side Marvin Sordell also came back into the side with Damien McCrory continuing at left back having shaken off the effects of the knock that saw him substituted against the Bees. Hope Akpan was also recovered from his ankle problem and he returned in the centre of midfield alongside Luke Murphy. Lloyd Dyer, Jamie Allen, Jacob Davenport and Martin Samuelsen all dropped to the bench.

Bent had an early headed opportunity inside the box but Frank Fielding was more than equal to it. Akins' aftrenoon was done after just five minutes. After looking very dangerous in the opening exchanges the popular winger went to ground and eventually had to be replaced by Dyer meaing a switch to the right hand side for Sordell early in the game.

Dyer quickly got himself into the action and Nathan Baker was the Bristol man forced into hacking the cross away from inside the six yard box.

Bristol, in between wastefully passing the ball out of play on several occasions did begin to threaten and Jamie Paterson fired well over the bar on 22 minutes as Lee Johnson's men began to string some attacking moves together.

The game was flowing pretty swiftly from end to end and Murphy found space to raid forward and go for goal on 26 minutes, his effort arcing away from the far post as Fielding watched on. Albion were almost caught on the counter as Kyle McFadzean got caught too far forward and when Bristol pumped the ball into the space behind, Marlon Pack raced through and could only watch on as Bywater's attempted clearance cannoned off the midfielder and looped over the bar.

Chances were few and far between as midfield became the main battleground although Paterson almost got lucky with a cross on 37 minutes that Bywater had to tip over his bar at the expense of a corner.

Albion began to put their foot on the accelerator as half time approached and after Dyer and Akpan got in each others way trying to get onto a through ball McFadzean strode onto a loose pass and fired in a shot that was just curling wide until Boyce got on the end of it and put it into the arms of Fielding.

It was the Brewers who finished the first half on top but that elusive first goal wouldnt come for them as they regrouped at half time with plenty of positives to take from the first forty five minutes.

Sordell got into a good position on the right to send a curling effort towards the top corner but the merest of deflections off left back Lloyd Kelly ensured that the ball dropped the wrong side of the post from a Burton perspective.

Albion were forced into a second change on 56 minutes when Boyce came off worst in a tussle for the ball with Pack and with no risks being taken with the club's record signing he was replaced by Samuelsen who went up top as a straight swap.

Bristol began to look dangerous when Kelly raced into acres of space on the left to send in a cross but it was just too high for Bobby Reid attacking the near post and Famara Diedhiou steaming in at the back post was unable to keep his effort down.

With the game starting to drift somewhat Lee Johnson made a double change introducing the pacy Lois Diony and the imposing figure of Milan Djuric for Paterson and Diedhiou with a quarter of the game remaining.

Albion made the final change of the game 2ith twenty minutes remaining and it saw the introduction of Davenport for Bent as Sordell took over up top and Albion reverted to the 4-1-4-1 formation that suits Davenport so well.

The game became increasingly scrappy as both sides cancelled each other out and it became clear that neither side was going to have the quality required to break the deadlock although Flanagan had an effort towards the end that didnt curl quite enough to threaten Fielding and a drilled effort from City's Josh Brownhill was straight down the throat of Bywater who saved easily.

The Brewers take on the Robins in Championship action on Saturday 10 March, and it’s a great opportunity to bring your family along for a great day out at the Pirelli Stadium.

The family ticket is available in the North Terrace and will cost just £40 for two adults and two under 17s tickets, which is a saving of £14 on regular match tickets. Additional under 17s tickets can be purchased at the same time as the family ticket for only £3.
