SCOTT Fraser’s first goal for the Brewers was not enough as Billy Kee’s late penalty salvaged a point for Accrington Stanley.

The hosts had the first shot in anger in the fourth minute, when ex-Brewer Billy Kee twisted and turned inside the box before unleasing a powerful drive, which Bradley Collins was equal to.

A minute later, the Brewers were almost ahead. David Templeton broke on an Albion counter attack. The Scottish winger cut inside and forced a save out of former Burton loanee Connor Ripley.

Accrington probably should have taken the lead on nine minutes. Mark Hughes was presented with a free header inside the Albion penalty area but headed well wide.

The Brewers took the lead in the 11^th minute. Marvin Sordell’s low drive forced a strong save out of Ripley but Scott Fraser was on hand to hammer the ball into the top right corner, scoring his first Burton goal in the process.

Sordell was once again causing problems for Accrington five minutes later. Jamie Allen slid the ball to the former Coventry man but his shot from wide inside the box was well blocked.

Allen went very close to making it 2-0 on 20 minutes. Templeton produced a sumptuous ball over the top to find the ex-Rochdale man, but his deft touch drifted narrowly wide of the far post.

Sean McConville almost drew the hosts level on 31 minutes when he produces a curling effort which flew just wide of the far post, with Bradley Collins flying across the goal.  The half ended 1-0 to the Brewers.

The second-half began with a Burton change. Harry Campbell replaced an injured Collins to make his league debut for the club.

Ben Fox denied the hosts an equaliser when he blocked a goal-bound header, with Campbell still on the ground after earlier punching the ball clear. Sam Finley then went close for Accrington, with his powerful effort from outside the box plying wide of the goal.

The home side went close again in the 68^th minute, when Ross Sykes glanced a header wide from a corner.

The Brewers almost made it 2-0 with less than 15 minutes to go, as Ben Fox’s cross drifted inches over the head of Marvin Sordell. Lucas Akins fired straight at Ripley moments later as Albion piled on the pressure for a second goal.

Connor Hall twice went close to an equaliser in a matter of seconds. First, the Bolton loanee rattled the woodwork with a low shot from inside the box, before shooting wide when he was slipped in and beat McFadzean.

Substitute Offrande Zanzala was then felled in the box by McFadzean in the 83^rd minute. The referee pointed to the spot despite protests from the Brewers players and Kee rifled the ball home from the spot to level the scores.

Campbell produced debut heroics late on, denying Zanzala’s point-blank header with a stunning save in stoppage time.
