BURTON Albion made it three wins on the spin on Sunday as the Brewers turned in a convincing 2-0 performance against Crusaders.

The game began slowly for both sides, with neither team having any major chances in the opening 25 minutes.

There was an injury concern early on for club captain Amber-Leigh Denny, however after receiving treatment in her own box the Brewers skipper managed to limp back onto the pitch to continue.

Albion’s first chance of the game came in the 30th minute as two youth team graduates combined, with Hajrah Mahmood breaking through the defence down the left and sliding a ball through to Farrah Hoyle who was unlucky to slip as she shot, with the strike sailing just wide.

Goalkeeper Alice Langstone was troubled on only a couple of occasions through the game, the highlight being an excellent save down low preventing a dangerous freekick from hitting the back of the net late in the first half.

The Brewers came out for the second half full of confidence and they earned their reward for a bright start to the second 45 with a goal just before the hour mark.

MAHMOOD curved her run in behind the defence perfectly and when the ball fell to the in-form forward in front of goal, she made no mistake hammering the ball in off the crossbar, leaving the keeper no chance.

The Brewerrs kept applying the pressure to Crusaders late in the game and doubled their advantage in the 76th minute, as Emily GILLOTT sprinted away from the chasing defenders and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper from the edge of the box to seal all three points for the Brewers.

With a clean sheet and a third successive victory, the Brewers are looking unstoppable right now and will be looking forward to first game of December when they take on league leaders Sutton Coldfield at the Pirelli.
