A DRAMATIC late winner from Leah Dalby secured a fantastic 4-3 victory to maintain Burton Albion Development Squad's 100% start to the Staffordshire Girls and Ladies Premier Division season.

With seconds remaining and the scores level, Dalby lifted the ball over the Rushall keeper, turning home a left-wing cross from Millie Cokayne.

It was Dalby's second goal of the game, with debutant Sommer Button, making her first Devs appearance from the U18s, also netting a brace as Albion secured a third consecutive victory.

BUTTON in fact opened the scoring on 20 minutes, finding some space and catching the keeper out of position before scoring with a strong finish to the near post.

Rushall would hit back on 40 minutes as Georgia COX raced onto a through ball over the top of the backline, finishing well past Layla Fountain in the Brewers goal.

Button would turn provider three minutes later, playing a neat ball into DALBY who spotted the keeper off her line, and sending an exquisite lob into the back of the net for 2-1.

Rushall would keep pressing forward and equalised again just shy of the break as a defensive mix-up from a goal kick presented the ball to Charlie PRITCHARD, who slotted home to level the scores again.

And it would be the visitors who took the lead just past the hour - Kate FREEMAN finding space on the edge of the box and finishing well into the roof of the net.

But that lead would last just five minutes as the Brewers came roaring back into contention. A wayward clearance found its way to BUTTON, who returned the ball to goal from 40 yards out and watched it bounce past the keeper and into the back of the net.

It looked as if that is how it would end - but there was still time for keeper Fountain to find Cokayne with a long ball over the top, with DALBY turning home to secure a memorable, dramatic victory.

Joint-manager Joe Kirkland said: "It was fantastic to get another victory against Rushall which continues our unbeaten start to the season.

"It was our biggest test so far and by all accounts wasn’t the prettiest game of football. With the character that we’ve shown over the course of the last two games I always believed that we could win the match even with the game going late in to stoppage time.

"It’s so important to keep believing in ourselves, and luckily, we did that again today.

"We have a long way to go, and we know that we can still get so much better, but nevertheless, we can be happy with the win."

WOMAN OF THE MATCH: Sommer Button - two goals and an assist on her Devs debut after stepping up from the U18s
