Wolves Sign Brewers Under-16 Regan Upton

Burton Academy Starlet Joins Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed 16 year old Burton Albion midfielder Regan Upton for an undisclosed fee. Upton signed for Burton Albion in 2011 and quickly progressed to feature in the Under 18 side alongside the Scholarship squad.

Burton Albion Head of Youth Mike Whitlow said, ‘Regan came to join us when we first set up the academy and he’s made great strides. He was an under 15 last year who progressed very well through the system. He’s played in the under 18s and a few clubs saw his potential.

‘He’s a fantastic lad and he’s progressed well. Wolves have come in and he’s stepped up to their academy which is a big step for him and a credit to himself and to what we are doing in our academy.’

Wolves Academy Manager Kevin Thelwell added, ‘Regan has been identified from the scouting networks we have got in place across the local area. We know the player and the parents and knew he was a good kid from a good background. We were well aware of the quality he could bring to us if we were able to secure his services.

‘We’ve got a very good relationship with Burton Albion and had discussed him with their youth department for some time. We are sure that he will come in and add to the quality of the boys we have already got in the building. He joins the Under-16 group and will then become a full-time scholar going forward next year.’
