Accrington Stanley 0-1 Burton Albion

31 August 2013

Skybet League 2 action fromthe Store First Stadium

It was the late, late show for Burton Albion as they grabbed all three points at Accrington Stanley with almost the last kick of the game. With seven minutes of added time shown by the officials following a lengthy injury delay for Albion substitute Jimmy Phillips, it was Adam Reed to turned out to be the Brewers hero steering home a low Adam McGurk cross to send the 200+ Albion fans home happy after an otherwise relatively uneventful game.

Both sides were coming off the back of Capital One Cup games against Premiership opposition and perhaps that told on both sides as flowing football was in scarce supply for long periods.

Reed was involved in one of the few moments of controversy when he prodded home a Michael Symes header that appeared to be already dropping into the far corner with the assistant ruling the former Sunderland youngster offside but that merely delayed the glorious moment for the young midfielder, thrust into the middle in place of Robbie Weir for the game.

The result propels Albion into the top three but leaves Stanley routed to the bottom of the League 2 table.
