Burton Albion can confirm the signing of forward Adam McGurk on a two year contract; subject to paperwork.
Â
The dynamic 24-year-old began his career as a youth player at Aston Villa before taking in a brief spell at Hednesford Town in 2010.
Â
Having impressed for the Pitmen, the Northern Ireland U21 international moved to Prenton Park where he enjoyed a productive three year stint at Tranmere Rovers; scoring 12 goals in 55 starts.
Â
McGurk joins the Brewers as a free agent following his release from Tranmere in the summer and last month scored for Skybet Championship side Birmingham City whilst on trial with the St. Andrews club.
Â
McGurk commented: ‘The Manager has shown his desire to bring me to the club all summer and knowing that Burton were so keen to bring me in was certainly a factor in my decision.
Â
‘Burton were perhaps unlucky not to get promotion last season and I am looking forward to getting to know the lads in the next few days and helping the club push on this year.’
Â
Burton Albion Manager Gary Rowett added: ‘Adam is a player we have been keen on for a while and he has the attributes to add real quality to the squad.
Â
‘He’s an exciting player and at an age where he can keep on improving. I’m not surprised that he received attention from clubs in higher divisions and I am delighted that we have been able to bring him to Burton.’
