Burton Albion Community Trust has teamed up with the NCS (National Citizen Service) Network to offer an exciting opportunity for 16-17 year olds this Autumn.

NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young people to help build skills for work and life, whilst taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.

Burton Albion Community Trust are hosting an Open Evening on Monday 9th September, 5.30pm-6.30pm at Burton Albion FC’s Pirelli Stadium. This is an information evening for applicants and parents/guardians to learn all about NCS and ask any questions you may have.

The programme begins on 26th October and will consist of an exciting 3 days away from home in the great outdoors at Manor Adventure in Shropshire. Participants will meet new friends, build confidence, and try new challenges led by fully qualified staff.

After the excitement of the residential away from home, participants will spend 3 days at Burton Albion FC discovering more about their local community and learning vital new skills. Participants will design a project to help a local charity or cause of their choice and deliver this within the local community within 30 hours across a number of days.

On completion of the programme, it’s time to dress up and party at the graduation ceremony to celebrate your achievements. You will also collect your certificate signed by the Prime Minister, with opportunities to venture overseas with the International Citizen Service.

Community Education Officer for Burton Albion Community Trust Paul Whitworth said ‘After the success of our summer programme we can’t wait to run NCS again in October. The young people involved during the summer have had a fantastic experience, gaining new skills they never thought they had. They’ve also made new friends for life and will never forget this experience. It’s an opportunity not to be missed.’

The entire NCS experience, including residential, accommodation, food, transport, taster sessions, training, and graduation party is just £35 per person. Don’t let costs put you off, as there are bursaries available. Please ask for details.

If you wish to attend the open evening on Monday 9th September (5.30pm-6.30pm), you must contact the Community Education Officer on the details below. Please note that parents/guardians are required to attend too.

To apply for NCS, please contact Paul Whitworth (Community Education Officer) at educationbact@burtonalbionfc.co.uk or download an application form from our Community section of the website at http://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/club/community.
