Webster gives courses the thumbs up

2 August 2013

The Burton Albion Community Trust’s summer football courses are in full swing with youngsters from across the area benefitting from a terrific opening two weeks.

Great weather, top coaching, stadium visits and above all a fun environment have all combined to make for a great couple of weeks at Shobnall and William Shrewsbury.

Those taking part on the courses have also been treated to appearances from some of the Brewers star players; including Lee Bell, Rene Howe, Robbie Weir, Zander Diamond and, of course, Burton Albion’s very own mascot Billy Brewer.

As part of the course, there have also been stadium tours to Premiership giants Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and Burton’s own Pirelli Stadium with Manchester United’s Old Trafford next on the list.

This year’s summer’s courses, which are available for those aged 5-13 years-old, are also attended by Brewers legend Aaron Webster who in his role as Ambassador has been passing on his vast experience.

Webster commented: ‘It’s been really good. The weather on the whole has been great and the children have really enjoyed themselves so it’s been an excellent start to the Trust’s Summer Courses.

‘There’s a great mix of youngsters and the coaches are fun to work with. The kids have finished schools and are having time off so we’re here to make this fun for them and to teach some football skills along the way and I think the coaches are having as much fun as them!

‘I’m a local lad myself and I think it’s good for youngsters to come to courses like this, benefit from the coaching, interact with other kids and see an ex Burton Albion player helping out.

‘I’ve got a good rapport with the club and have enjoyed being involved with the Community Trust down the years and now that I’m not a player it’s good to still be playing my part with the Trust.’

A wide variety of courses are still available throughout the summer ranging from Goalkeeping, Premier League Experience and Baby Brewers.
