Cheer on England at Burton Albion

England face Portugal at Burton Albion

England fans are being urged to come down to Burton Albion Stadium on Monday 2 December to be part of an exciting day of women’s football, as the England team will play Portugal in their third match of the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship. The game will kick off at 12.30pm.

Burton Albion Stadium is one of four host venues for the prestigious UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship which takes place in England from 26 November – 8 December 2013. 

The eight national squads are based at St. George’s Park in Burton-On-Trent and have exclusive use of The FA’s new world-class training facility.

England kicked-off the tournament against Italy at AFC Telford Stadium on Tuesday 26 November, and play Austria at Chesterfield FC Stadium on Friday 29 November (K.O 7pm) before completing the group stage against Portugal at Burton Albion Stadium. The Final is at Chesterfield FC Stadium on Sunday 8 December 2013 (K.O 5pm).

The UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship is the pinnacle competition in Europe for this age group and the games will give the opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow. And not only will there be a spectacular feast of the best women’s football in store. From 10.30am, fans are invited to take part in the FREE FA interactive fanzone, brought by Continental Tyres.

Games include batak boards, a speed cage, a target shoot inflatable plus a new trailer that houses digital stations and the FA WSL trophy, Cyprus Cup and FA WSL Continental Cup. 

Fans will also have the chance to pose with the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship trophy.

Charlotte Lade, one of the world’s leading professional football freestylers, will be showing off her amazing football tricks and skills and fans can also meet some of their footballing heroes. England and Manchester City Ladies midfielder Jill Scott and England Under-23 and Doncaster Rovers Belles striker Millie Bright will be in the house to meet and greet the supporters, pass on top tips and talk about what it is like to play for England.

Billy and Betty Brewer and FA Women’s Super League mascot Berry the Bear will be in attendance and will be going head-to-head in a dance off. Staff from Staffordshire County FA will be on hand to provide information on local football opportunities.

To add to the enhanced fan experience, there will be prizes and giveaways from Continental Tyres and Lego Friends, tournament sponsors, and music, hair braiding and face painting, all of which will take place outside the stadium from 10.30am. 

In addition, the England band will play at the game and will be sounding out their support for the Three Lions and adding to the England party atmosphere.

Tickets are available to this prestigious UEFA tournament and at a cost of only £3 for an adult and £1.50 for children and concessions, football fans can experience top class women’s european football at an affordable price, right on their doorstep. All schools and youth clubs have been offered FREE tickets by The FA to enable youngsters in the local area to watch the best young female footballers in Europe and to come out to cheer on England.
