Monday 2nd November 2013 - A crowd of nearly 2,000 schoolchildren and students, invited by The FA, attended Burton Albion Stadium to be part of an exciting day of women’s football, as the England team were playing their third match of the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship.

England produced a scintillating performance to beat Portugal 6-1 and seal their place in the semi-final of the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship.

England will take on Spain at Thursday’s semi-final at Burton Albion Stadium (K.O 7pm) after the Iberians defeated Germany 4-0 to lead Group B. The Final is on Sunday 8 December at Chesterfield FC Stadium (K.O 5pm).

Before cheering on England, and showing their support by singing along with the England band, over 500 young fans took part in the FREE FA interactive Fanzone outside the stadium.

The event offered a fun football experience for the participants who had the chance to test their reactions as well as the speed of their shot, in a number of interactive games, brought by Continental Tyres, including batak boards, a speed cage and a target shoot inflatable plus a trailer housing digital stations and trophies.

England and Manchester City Ladies midfielder Jill Scott, Birmingham City Ladies and England player Rachel Unitt and England Under-23 and Doncaster Rovers Belles striker Millie Bright made a special visit to meet and greet all of the participants, pass on top tips and talk about what it is like to play for England.

Charlotte Lade, one of the world’s leading professional football freestylers was also on hand to wow the crowds with her amazing football tricks and skills.

Fans were also given the chance to pose with the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship trophy, whilst Billy and Betty Brewer, England mascots the Three Lions and FA Women’s Super League mascot Berry the Bear were also in attendance and went head-to-head in a dance off.

To add to the enhanced fan experience, there were prizes and giveaways from Lego Friends and Continental Tyres, tournament sponsors, and music, hair braiding and face painting. Staff from Staffordshire County FA were on hand to provide information on local football opportunities.
