Jack Butland to attend England game

England 'keeper to visit Burton Albion

England senior team players Jack Butland and Casey Stoney are heading to Burton Albion FC on Thursday 5 December to cheer on England women’s Under-17 team who face Spain in the semi-finals of the Euros.

England have played three group games, winning two and losing one to reach this stage of the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship.

Jack Butland won the UEFA European Men’s Under-17 Final in 2010 and has progressed through the age groups to represent at senior level. Butland knows what a big event it is for these young players.

“No matter what age group you play at, the chance to win something with your country is hugely important and I’d like to think those Euros did a lot for us all.”

“They might not get another chance to appear in a Euro Finals so they need to make the most of every opportunity - it could prove to be as big a step for them as it was for most of us.”

Casey is England Captain and tournament ambassador and has already seen the young lionesses in action.

“They have done really well to reach this far. They have enjoyed the atmosphere and have grown as the games have gone on. I have been really impressed with their teamwork and support for each other. This game is going to be hard as Spain are a great side but I really hope they can put on a good show for all the fans.”
