Striker ready to turn reserve goals to first team goals

Dominic Knowles is determined to transform his impressive goal return for the Albion reserves into first team matches.

The former Burnley striker has been starting matches in recent weeks but has yet to find the net despite regularly scoring in reserve matches.

With York visiting the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday it could be another chance for Knowles to break his duck.

He said: "It is tough, obviously we have got the Saturday match against York and then the Tuesday game (against Fleetwood), but it is busy through the festive period.

"We definitely want to get three points on Saturday against York, I think that is a big one because that will really kick on with things I think because it is very tight up at the top of the league.

"I think if we can string together a couple of wins then we can really press on," he said.

York, Fleetwood, Northampton, and Newport visit the Pirelli Stadium over the festive period and Knowles believes the games could make or break the Brewers' season.

"I would have thought in the next few weeks over the Christmas period a few teams will look to press on and you might start to see it open up a bit.

"It is up to us to make sure we're one of the teams that are pressing on.

"I think on a personal level things are going well and I have scored a few in reserve games and I have played a good part in the first team games as well.

"Scoring goals in the reserve games and trying to impress the manager and then to get my chance in the first team is what I need to do."

He added: "I just need my first goal with the first team so I can kick-on from there.

"It is my first proper season in professional football so it would be nice to get my first league goal but as long as I keep working hard I am sure a goal will come."
