No Appeal against Diamond Red Card

Skipper set to miss four matches

Burton Albion have decided not to appeal the red card shown to captain Zander Diamond against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Gary Rowett confirmed this evening that he had reviewed the available video footage of the incident but felt that there was insufficient clear footage to instigate a successful appeal on behalf of the Albion skipper.

"We have had a look over the weekend at what footage is available and we can see that there is a tussle between the two of them and Zander has tried to free himself" explained the Brewers manager, "By getting involved in a tussle with their defender Zander has acted very much out of character and it was a situation that he shouldn't have got involved in although the Wimbledon player didnt help things. Whilst we still feel that the red card was somewhat harsh Zander probably shouldnt have allowed himself to get into that situation. If we feel that the incident needs to be dealt with further then it will be dealt with internally."

Diamond will now serve a four match suspension starting on Saturday against Rotherham United.
