O'Connor Awarded First U21's Call Up

Anthony O'Connor gets Ireland U21's Call Up

Burton Albion right-back Anthony O’Connor has been called up by Ireland u21s Head Coach Noel King for the first time.

The Blackburn Rovers loanee has been a virtual ever-present for the Brewers since signing an initial one month loan at the Pirelli Stadium in August, and the Cork-born youngster has been rewarded with a first international call-up at u21s level.

The versatile 20-year-old - previously capped at u17s and u19s level by his country - has made 34 appearances to date and recently saw his loan deal extended until the end of the 2012/2013 campaign and will join up with the Ireland u21 squad next month for their international against the Netherlands on February 6th.

The club would like to congratulate Anthony on a well-deserved call-up.
