BACT Summer Disability Camps

5 July 2013

Burton Albion Community Trust have their next set of exciting Disability holiday camps in Burton and Uttoxeter that offer children a fun-filled week of learning new skills and sports with BACT qualified coaches.

BACT, in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and Aiming High, deliver multisport and dance classes throughout each school holiday. The holiday courses have been tailored to the needs of children with varying disabilities between the ages of 5 and 17 years of age.

During the multisport courses, the children will learn skills that apply to many different games such as football, cricket, table tennis etc, whilst learning and socialising with other children.

The Dance workshops will be led by one of the Trust’s dedicated dance artists. These workshops are also tailored to the needs of the children from beginner dancers to the most talented. All of the classes will be based around fun and expressing yourselves through the medium of dance.

Stadium Experiences

Have you ever wondered what the Pirelli Stadium is like behind the scenes? Well, BACT are giving children with disabilities and their families the chance to experience what only a few people are allowed to see.

A tour around the stadium, which will show you where and how the players and match officials get themselves ready for a match, as well as the chance to see how what goes into keeping the stadium running whilst the players are on their end of season breaks.

There will also be lots of fun activities around the stadium like a picture hunt, followed by lots of fun activities in one of our education rooms at the Stadium where you can play a number of fun games; from connect 4 to table tennis, and from the Xbox Kinect to curling.

Whilst on the courses your children will get chance to make new friends, play sports in a friendly environment with welcoming staff, the chance to win BAFC prizes and even get the chance to meet and have a Q&A with some of the BAFC players.

BACT Delivery Manager Matt Hancock commented: 'We are extremely grateful to Aiming High in allowing us to deliver these courses across the region and make a difference to young people with disabilities'.
