Brewers to host u17s internationals

19 July 2013

Following the successful hosting of England Women v Japan Women last month which saw over 5,000 supporters take in the action; international football is set to return to the Pirelli Stadium in August.

Burton Albion will be the venue for three England Under 17s contests in the space of six days; giving supporters the opportunity to cast an eye over the country’s most exciting emerging talents.

In recent years, the likes of Wayne Rooney, Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere have all progressed from the England u17s set-up to gain full international honours.

The U17s St George’s Park International Tournament will see England take on Portugal on Wednesday, 28th August, 7:30pm kick-off before the Three Lions return two days later on Friday, 30th August to lock horns with Turkey; again a 7:30pm kick-off.

The trio of matches will then conclude on Sunday, 1st September as John Peacock’s side entertain Italy; kick-off 3pm.

Burton Albion Commercial Director Fleur Robinson commented: ‘The club thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Hope Powell’s England and World Champions Japan to the Pirelli Stadium and we’re similarly excited about hosting the forthcoming U17s internationals.

‘It will be great to see some of Europe’s brightest young stars on our doorstep and with three games in six days and tickets representing excellent value for money, it promises to be a great week.’

Tickets for all three matches are available in advance and on the day of the match and are priced at just £1.50 adults and £1 concessions as the FA and Burton Albion look to recreate the terrific atmosphere of last month’s Women’s International.

Tickets will be available to book in advance by contact the Ticket Office on 01283 565938; with a date for tickets going on general sale being announced in due course.
