Burton sign Hussey

28 June 2013

Burton Albion Football Club can confirm the signing of Chris Hussey.

The London-born left-back arrives at the Pirelli Stadium with a good reputation having gained Championship and League One experience for Coventry City between 2009 and 2013; making 65 appearances for the Sky Blues.

The 24-year-old has also enjoyed two stints at AFC Wimbledon; for whom he made 19 appearances in League Two last season before becoming a free agent in the summer.

Hussey becomes the Brewers’ fourth summer signing following the recent arrivals of Adam Reed, Alex MacDonald and Dominic Knowles.

Hussey commented: ‘As soon as I spoke to the manager and he outlined his ideas for the club I was keen to be a part of it and knew it was the correct decision to make.

‘The training facilities are excellent, the stadium is good and it is nice to feel wanted. I’m looking forward to the first game of the season and can’t wait to meet the squad and get started.’

Manager Gary Rowett added: ‘Chris is an excellent player and one I believe can kick on and add some real quality on the left-hand side.

‘He’s a good size, a good athlete and is equally comfortable going forward and defending so I think we’ve got a good player on our hands and one with real ability.’
