Students FREE for England v Japan

11 June 2013

England take on Japan in an eagerly-anticipated Women's International and students across England are being offered FREE tickets to see England Women play World Cup holders Japan, in an eagerly anticipated International friendly on Wednesday 26 June at the Pirelli Stadium; 1:45pm kick off.

The fixture is a final warm-up match, before Hope Powell and her England team fly to Sweden to take part in the UEFA 2013 European Championships.

It has been decided the Japan game will kick-off at 1.45pm, a time negotiated to both secure the fixture against the World Champions and to give students across England, the chance to see some of the world’s best female players in action.

To help mark a special year for The Football Association - the governing body’s 150th anniversary and 20 years since they took over the running of the women’s game, this match forms part of a number of unique events taking place.

To support this and in recognition of the key part schools and universities play in the whole game, all students can secure their tickets to the game for free, when applied for through their educational establishment. While students are a key priority, The FA are also encouraging local businesses to offer staff incentives and allow employees to experience top class women’s international football.

England Manager Hope Powell said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to play one of the best teams in the world and perfect for our preparations for the Euro’s. It is great to be able to open up this match to an audience who may not have experienced international football before. We are hoping that students across England will take up the chance to get free tickets and give us a tremendous send off to the Euro’s.”

Prior to seeing the two teams in action, fans are invited to take part in FREE, fun football-based interactive games in association with Continental Tyres. Games include batak boards, a speed cage, a target shoot inflatable plus a new trailer which houses digital stations and The FA WSL and Cyprus Cup trophies. To add to the England party atmosphere, there will also be hair braiding and face painting, all of which will take place outside the stadium from midday.
