Burton legend Andy Corbett has secured the services of a number of former Brewers stars for this evening’s Testimonial against Derby County; 7:30pm kick off.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a Testimonial Dinner on April 5th and a Golf Day on April 30th and is now set to be rewarded for a decade of service with a match against the Rams.
Originally signed as a striker by then manager Nigel Clough in November 2003, Corbett has gone on to represent the club on almost 500 occasions.
The right-back was also an integral part of the team as Burton gained promotion to the Football League as Champions in 2009.
The likes of former skipper Darren Stride, Adam Bolder, Shaun Harrad, Greg Pearson, Michael Simpson and Tony James could all be in the Brewers’ line-up as well as recently departed legends Aaron Webster and John McGrath; whilst the Rams are set to bring their entire first team squad.
Corbett said: ‘I’m really looking forward to the evening. It’s going to be great to have the lads from Derby over and terrific to have some former Burton players back playing at the Pirelli as well.
‘I really appreciate Nigel bringing a team and it’ll be certainly be a special occasion for me.’
Former Burton and current Derby Manager Nigel Clough added ‘we’ll be taking a full-strength first-team squad to Burton, which is what Andy deserves for the service he has given to Burton over the years.
‘He was a great player for us rising through the leagues and it will be great to catch up with him and few other old friends again.
‘Hopefully a good crowd will turn out at the Pirelli and I am sure our fans will show their support, as always.’
Tickets for the Burton Albion v Derby County Testimonial are priced at £10 and £5 Under 16s and will be available on the turnstiles before Tuesday’s game.
