Burton Albion could move as high as 7th with a win this evening as they face Torquay United at the Pirelli Stadium; 7:45pm kick-off.
The Brewers come into the Sky Bet League 2 encounter buoyed by an impressive 2-0 away win over league leaders Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium; courtesy of two early Adam McGurk goals.
The victory was Albion’s fourth on the road already this season; a record they will be looking to replicate at the Pirelli where victories have, to date, been less frequent.
The Brewers were propelled to 12th in the table following the weekend’s win with Gary Rowett’s men now just two points off the play-off places and five points off top spot.
Whilst Rory Delap and Alex MacDonald remain doubtful for the hosts through injury, the Brewers are set to welcome back talisman Billy Kee from suspension and the striker is in line to start against his former club.
For their part, visitors Torquay have endured a tricky start to the 2013/14 campaign with just two victories from their opening 12 games; a run that sees the Gulls currently sitting 21st place on 10 points; a point ahead of Northampton Town in the relegation zone.
Alan Knill’s men will, however, travel north on the back of a hard-fought draw against in-form Mansfield Town and have already tasted victory on their travels having previously secured a 2-1 win at Northampton.
Burton Albion Manager Gary Rowett commented: ‘I’m really pleased for the whole squad that we got the result at Chesterfield because things have perhaps not being going for us for various reasons of late and we felt it was only a matter of time before we would click and put in that kind of performance.
‘We showed a lot of character and, even at 2-0 up, we knew we would have to work incredibly hard to see the game out and I felt we did that very capably.
‘Against Torquay, it’ll be no different than us going to Chesterfield and making it hard for them to play. I don’t imagine they are going to come here and not try to make it difficult for us.
‘We’ve got to break teams down and earn the right to win the game.’
Tickets are available to purchase on the evening at the Pirelli Stadium.Â
