24 October 2013

Brewers to host England v Portugal

The Pirelli Stadium will host Scotland v Spain and England v Portugal in the UEFA Women’s Under 17s Championship Finals following the draw at Burton Town Hall today.

The matches will take place on Friday, 29th November and Monday 2nd, December respectively; with the England match a 12:30pm kick-offs ensuring that, as with the hugely successful England v Japan Women’s International earlier in the year, local students will be able to take in the match. The Scotland v Spain contest will be a 7pm start.

The Pirelli will also be the venue for both the semi-final (Thursday, 5th December) and the third-place play-off (Sunday, 8th December).

The draw, which was conducted by former England captain Faye White and Sue Smith along with UEFA Head of Women's and Futsal Competitions Mikael Salzer, is as follows:

Group A: England (hosts), Italy, Austria, Portugal

Group B: Germany, Scotland, France, Spain

Faye White told Brewers Player:  ‘It’s going to be a great tournament. I know the senior Women’s team have played at Burton Albion as well and year on year the quality of the players is improving.

‘In the FA’s 150th year anniversary it is great that this tournament will finish off what has been a great year for the Football Association.’

Full ticket details for the above games will be available in due course.
