Brewers Weekend Betting Preview

6 September 2013

Just two away teams won last weekend with seven home teams securing victories. We are set for another action packed weekend in Sky Bet League 2. Read on for Sky Bet’s, take on Burton Albion’s chances this weekend.

Brewers looking to come out on top against fellow unbeaten Oxford

You won’t see many later goals scored than Adam Reed’s 98th minute winner for the Brewers last time out at Accrington to snatch a 1-0 win right at the death. You don’t want to see head injuries but with Jimmy Phillips back fit this week we can thank him for the added time at Stanley.

Looking forward to Saturday it’s the toughest test for Burton so far as high flying Oxford United visit the Pirelli stadium with both teams looking to keep that zero in the loss column come 4.50pm. Albion have a slight head to head advantage in the last two seasons with one win and three draws including a 4-0 hammering in the corresponding fixture last season.

The Brewers’ last league match at The Pirelli finished 2-2 with Bury and that means Albion have now only failed to find the net just once in their last 16 home games.  With at least four goals also coming in Oxford’s three away games so far this season and the fact 9 of their last 13 away games versus top-six sides have seen at least three goals you can back over 2.5 goals at 5/6 and for the more adventurous of you, over 3.5 goals at 2/1.

This looks a very even contest so if you like the draw and those goal stats maybe the draw/over 2.5 goals at a big 12/1 takes your fancy.

The Brewers like to get off to a fast start at home and have been leading at half-time in their last four home matches against sides sitting in the top-six. To be leading at half-time only is 15/8 and to carry that on for the victory is 5/2.

We’ve seen the Brewers can find the net so looking at where the goals might flow from leads us to Rene Howe who has scored once in his first three games but scored 16 last season for a Torquay team that struggled. Rene is 6/1 to score first and 7/4 anytime.

Other reasons to bet:

• Burton have won their last five home matches against top-six teams
• Burton have had Over 3.5 goals in their last five matches against top-six teams
• Rene Howe to score first and Burton to win is 11/4.
