Rowett nominated for August Award

3 September 2013

Burton Albion Manager Gary Rowett has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month Award for August.

The Brewers boss guided Albion to three wins and two draws in the month to see the in the automatic play-off positions with five games played.

Rowett is no stranger to nominations, having picked up the Manager of the Month Award twice during the 2012/13 campaign.

Sky Bet League 2 nominations:

Neal Ardley (AFC Wimbledon)

Having avoided relegation on the final day of the season, Ardley ensured a fast start this time. Their 10 points from five matches included a 100% record at home with wins over Wycombe, Scunthorpe and Fleetwood.

Paul Cook (Chesterfield)

His confident, assured side scored exactly two goals in all five of their games - enough for four wins and a draw - with significant victories coming over potential promotion rivals Southend and Portsmouth to lead League 2.

Gary Rowett (Burton Albion)

Dispelled the play-off semi-final defeat hangover in spite of the summer loss of key players. As impressive as his team’s three wins were the 2-2 draws they secured against Cheltenham and Bury after trailing 2-0 in both.

Chris Wilder (Oxford United)

His team began the season in sparkling form with a 4-1 opening day win at Portsmouth to herald an unbeaten month. With 12 goals in five matches spread among six players he has moulded a free-flowing and fluent side.

The winners will be announced on Friday September 6 2013

The judging panel comprises former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley; Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Deputy Chief Operating Officer Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins
