New Futsal programme offers a route to a US scholarship

Burton Albion Coummunity Trust continue to deliver excellent courses for school leavers receiving their GCSE's this week. Their new Futsal programme offers students the opportunity to gain US Futsal scholarships and all information and details are below.

Burton Albion Community Trust is delighted to announce that we will be working with De Ferrers Academy in September to offer students the opportunity to undertake our Futsal and Education programme.

This exciting initiative will see students train twice weekly with BACT staff and represent Burton Albion in the Football League Futsal national league. The education programme will be delivered by the highly skilled staff at Burton Albion with students having a choice of undertaking a number of sport based qualifications.

Whilst on the course, you are still permitted to play for your weekend team.

The course will hand you several pathways such as Level 3 in Sport, University, Employment and Futsal Scholarships in America.

Places on the course are subject to 2 GCSE’s grade D and above and an academic interview.

What is Futsal?

Futsal is the world’s fastest growing indoor sport, which showcases close ball skills, increased touches, quick decision making, creativity and tactical nous. Considered by many as football in its purest form, the five-a-side game using hockey size goals and a size four ball with 30% less bounce is the only officially recognised form of indoor football accepted by UEFA and FIFA.

Set to become a future Olympic Sport, the free-flowing game was played by football stars as juniors, including Zidane, Xavi, Messi, Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo.
