Assistant manager breaks down the excellent first-half performance

Kevin Summerfield discusses tonight's 1-0 home win against Exeter City.

On tonight's performance:

"It was a really good, strong first-half performance, where we attacked and created lots of chances.

"If you took the goalie out the equation, who made three or four good saves then we could of been away and clear.

"But the boys have got to keep going and we knew it would be difficult in the second half. They came into the game and we couldn't get going at all in the second-half.

"If we're not playing well we can grind out results and if you're going to be promotion candidates you've got to win those games when you're not playing well.

"Lucas couldn't have headed the ball better, John couldn't have struck his shots better it was just some amazing saves from their goalkeeper. Those saves could have been saves of the season in any division."

On the goalscorer Stuart Beavon and Lucas Akins:

"Stuart (Beavon) is a good player and anyone can see it. He's biggest asset is the hard work he puts in and if we can get everybody up to Stu's level of work rate then we'd be a really good team.

"I think we've got a lot better squad last year. Lucas has added a lot and those glimpses mean he might be able to play down the middle for us, which will give us another dimension in height and strength."

On keeping clean sheets and winning home matches:

"That's the basis of a good team. I think our home games will be tough after the last two years teams can see us as the team to beat and it'll be hard to break teams down like you've seen the last two games."

On Kee's replacement:

"Hopefully as we've been out looking at games and potential players we'd like to bring in. We've got quite a list and we've just got to pick the right one and tick him off."
