LUCAS AKINS ON HIS GOOD START

11 August 2014

New signing Akins talks about life at the Pirelli Stadium and the performance at Oxford.

Summer signing Lucas Akins is feeling at home at the Pirelli Stadium. The winger, who signed from Stevenage is encouraged by what he's seen so far at Burton Albion and here's his thoughts after Saturday's victory at Oxford United.

On Life At Burton

"Under the management here they've all made it responsible, but very relaxed.

"We obviously work very hard and the environment is perfect, so it's up to us to work as hard as we can and hopefully if we do that, we'll get our rewards."

On Saturday's Result

"It's a great result to come away from home and come to a tough place like Oxford, who had a good season last year with a good manager.

"It's always good to come here and get off the mark and three points in the league is obviously welcome."

"Now we're in the league it's a win at the end of the day. We're in the results business, so no matter how it comes you're not going to complain. It's the first game of the season and we would have took that yesterday, so we're just happy to get off the mark."

On His Goal And Linking Up With Others

"To get off the mark was nice, but it's a testament to the lads who put a lot of effort out there, as it's a team effort.

"It was a great ball by Ian Sharps to put Beav's in (Stuart Beavon). You know that when he's in and around the box, he'll make things happen, so you've just got to get yourself into the box. He's managed to find me and i've put it in the net and he's had an excellent game. It's great to be on the pitch with him, but we've also got some great attacking players like Alex MacDonald on the other side and Dominic Knowles upfront, who were excellent."

On A Goal Target?

"I haven't no, just as much as I can.

"I'm not bothered if I score as long as I chip in with assists or get involved in goal scoring moves. As long as we win then that's all that really matters."
