ROWETT ON 0-0 FRIENDLY DRAW

6 August 2014

Albion's 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest impresses Rowett

Gary Rowett was delighted with his side's work after a Burton Albion Xl drew 0-0 against Nottingham Forest at St. Georges Park yesterday.

The friendly, which was played behind closed doors was the perfect opportunity for players to gain fitness as well as watching triallists and youth team players against a physical Forest side.

Forest included first teamers such as Greg Halford, Eric Lihaj, Chris Cohen, Danny Collins and Jack Hobbs, whilst Rowett was able to give Billy Kee, Marcus Harness, Matty Palmer and Dean Lyness a full 90 minutes with Adam McGurk playing the first half.

With the weather playing it's part both teams remained competitive throughout the heavy downpour. Jorge Grant went close twice for Forest, whilst Joe Doyle and Marcus Harness both had excellent chances near the end to snatch a late win.

Speaking to Burton Player, Gary said: "It was a good game in tough conditions.

"The players were excellent and matched a strong Forest side, which included many first teamers.

"It was great for one or two to continue their path to full fitness and a game as competitive as yesterday was perfect for them."
