BACT Stage junior day

18 February 2014

Over 1,000 local children in attendance

Last Saturday's home clash with Dagenham & Redbridge marked the Burton Albion Community Trust Junior Day, welcoming around 1,000 local children to the Pirelli Stadium to watch the Brewers in action.

The day, ran in partnership with the Burton Junior Football League, saw 200 local schoolchildren, as well as 800 local junior footballers from the BJFL pack out the East terrace with their families for an unforgettable matchday experience, creating a unique atmosphere behind the goal.

Winshill FC players were treated to an extra bonus, walking out with the squad as player escorts as well as being flag bearers - a reward for having the highest attendance of all the clubs.

As well as getting behind the Brewers during the game, each team had their squad picture taken with club mascots Billy and Bettie Brewer after the final whistle to cap off a memorable day.

Andy Taylor, Community Development Manager for the BACT, said "We were delighted with the response of the local junior teams. We work very hard throughout the season to communicate with local football and have a strong relationship in place with the Burton Junior Football League and the junior players are our future fan base."

"I would also like to thank our volunteers for supporting on the day to make their experience as enjoyable as possible. We hope to see more clubs attend our remaining games this season and get involved with one of our experience days."
