Diamond makes loan move

Defender to join Northampton Town

Burton Albion defender Zander Diamond has today joined Northampton Town on a loan deal until the end of the season.

With the paperwork completed this morning, 28 year-old Diamond will link up with his new side today for the rest of the season, although the club do have a 24-hour recall option on Diamond.

With Ian Sharps and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff in the Albion team, Diamond has found first-team chances limited this season, making 13 appearances, scoring once.

Brewers manager Gary Rowett said of the move “It's important to stress he hasn't done anything wrong, he's been a brilliant pro and has never complained once about not playing.

"He also never tried to instigate a move away. Players want to play football and we want to keep them all here, but every now and then you've got to let people go out and do what they want to do."

Everyone at Burton Albion wishes Diamond well in his loan move.
