Defender hoping for more goals at Morecambe
When your sideâs regular right-back describes Saturdayâs destination as a âlucky groundâ you could be forgiven for thinking that it may have heralded regular clean sheets in games gone by, but not for defender Phil Edwards - the Globe Arena is where he regularly finds the back of the net.
On Boxing Day 2009 the right-back scored both goals for Accrington Stanley in their 2-1 win over the Shrimps.
Again in January 2011, Edwards found the net for Accrington against Morecambe at the Globe Arena and then scored in the reverse fixture a month later.
âFor me personally it has been quite a lucky ground, Iâve scored quite a few goals there, most of them penalties, so hopefully the luck there continues for me and Burton on Saturday and we can get a win,â explained Edwards.
The onus on Saturday for Edwards is to get the Brewers back on track after a tricky couple of weeks which has seen Albion slip to seventh place in Sky Bet League 2.
âOver the last couple of games we have struggled to get the win, weâve got a couple draws and a defeat, so we need to get back on track and get a win and get back up the table into those automatic places.
âWeâve slipped up of late but the other teams around us havenât really taken advantage of that, I think it is only four points from third place and weâve got a game in hand.â
With Albion regularly struggling at Morecambe, the history books do not favour the Brewers but Edwards is determined to concentrate Albion rather than his opponents.
âWe need to look after ourselves and get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
âWe need to go there with a winning mentality.
âThey will be raring to go against us so we know it is going to be a tough game.â
So will Albion continue their difficult run at Morecambe or will defender Edwardsâ goal scoring form continue at Morecambe? Come Saturday we will see.
