Schools win Kids Cup trophies

20 February 2014

Ryecroft and Granville schools to represent Albion

At half-time during last Saturday’s game with Dagenham & Redbridge, presentations were made to local schools football teams after winning their respective tournaments.

In the Under-11 Kids cup, Ryecroft Middle School came out on top of 22 participating local schools, and their prize for doing so is the chance to represent Burton Albion at the regional finals, which will be held at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium.

The Under-13 Girls cup winners were Granville high school who saw off competition from nine other schools to represent Burton Albion at their regional finals. These were held at Shrewsbury Town FC’s Greenhous Meadow stadium and the team finished fourth.

Both teams were guests as part of the club’s junior day, and were presented with their trophies on the pitch at half-time on Saturday.

A huge well done to both teams, and we wish Ryecroft all the best when they represent the club in the regional finals.
