Free travel for Albion fans

Burton Albion is now offering free official travel to supporters who used the official coaches for the postponed third round FA Cup tie thanks to the huge generosity of the AFC Bournemouth supporters and Chairman Jeff Mostyn who have made donations following Saturday’s postponement.

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson, said: “When Bournemouth were promoted to League 1 in 2010 their fans, officials and players created a great atmosphere as they celebrated their promotion on the Pirelli Stadium pitch in front of the main stand at the end of the game.

“The champagne flowed in the Boardroom and we all have very fond memories of a very special day as we witnessed a great celebration.

“It really is a tremendous gesture that the supporters of AFC Bournemouth have started a campaign to raise money to cover the coach travel for our fans to travel down to the rearranged tie on Tuesday January 14 and the Burton Albion fans really touched by this amazing gesture.”

AFC Bournemouth supporter Adrian Lee who set up the Go Fund Me page for the free coach travel for the rearranged tie, said:

“As a fan that travels to away games a lot I could understand the situation many of the Burton fans found themselves in on Saturday when the game was called off.

“David Whitehead came up with the idea and I helped get things going, we remember how well we were treated when we earned promotion at the Pirelli Stadium in 2010 and there has been a special bond between the sides ever since.”

Supporters who made the trip on Saturday will now be able to travel for free to the rearranged tie on January 14, (7.45pm).

Albion Supporters must produce their AFC Bournemouth match ticket when signing up for the free away travel.

Fans that travelled by official coach but can no longer attend the rearranged fixture can use £16 of credit towards away travel until the end of February.

This excludes potential further cup fixtures.

Supporters who are now unable to attend the FA Cup third round tie can ask for a refund on their match ticket by contacting Burton Albion on 01283 565938.

Further match tickets are being sold by the club for supporters who didn't attend the postponed tie and away travel details can be found below.
