Wigan defender signs on loan
Burton Albion have completed the signing of Adam Buxton on a one-month loan deal from Sky Bet Championship side Wigan Athletic.
The 21-year-old defender can play at right-back, left-back and centre-back and was captain of Wigan’s Development Squad last season.
Manager Gary Rowett said: “Adam is a player we have liked for some time now and we actually tried to sign him during the summer.
“We watched him for about 18 months and really liked what we saw.”
“He is a big lad and can play in a number of positions across the defence and at the moment with one or two injuries it was important that we got someone in to add to the numbers at the back,” Rowett explained.
“He is a player that I know will be able to cope with the demands of this league.”
Buxton has signed in time to be involved in Albion’s FA Cup third round trip to AFC Bournemouth.
