Defender breaks cheek bone
It has been confirmed that Burton Albion defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff sustained a broken cheek bone in the 0-0 draw with Mansfield Town on New Year’s Day.
The defender who had only just signed a new loan deal with the Brewers until the end of the season was involved in a collision with a Mansfield Town defender as Burton searched for a winner at Field Mill.
The centre-back was substituted on 82 minutes for fellow defender Zander Diamond and attended hospital after the match.
Cansdell-Sherriff will today see a specialist to determine the extent of the injury.
