JOHN MOUSINHO SIGNS FOR BURTON ALBION

6 June 2014

Brewers land midfielder on two-yer deal

Burton Albion have today signed John Mousinho on a two-year deal.

Mousinho, 28, was most recently released by Preston North End at the conclusion of last season, and has joined the Brewers ahead of the new campaign.

The London-born midfielder began his professional career at Brentford in 2005, making 72 appearances for the Bees before moving on in 2008.

Mousinho has spent time at Wycombe and Stevenage, where he earned promotion in 2011 after scoring the winning goal in the play-off final against Torquay United.

Since moving to Preston two years ago, Mousinho has spent time on loan at Gillingham and back at Stevenage, where he made a further 16 appearances in a loan spell during the second half of last season before North End released him.

Brewers manager Gary Rowett has expressed his delight at signing Mousinho, someone who he believes can drive the team forward.

“We’re delighted to sign John. He was our number one target for the summer and he’s a fantastic player,” he said.

"He brings experience from playing at League One level before, as well as his size and athleticism. He’s primarily a central midfielder, but he can also play in defence and we’re really pleased to sign him.”
