Brewers sign McFadzean

21 March 2014

Midfielder arrives on a month's loan

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett has bolstered his promotion chasing squad with the addition of Sheffield United midfielder Callum McFadzean on an initial one month loan deal.

20 year-old McFadzean is a home grown product of the Sheffield United academy and made his debut for the Blades as a substitute against the Brewers in the Capital One Cup back in August 2012, and also started the game against Albion earlier on this season.

Predominantly a left sided player, McFadzean, who has also represented England at Under-16 level earlier in his career, will add some competition to the Brewers midfield.

Rowett was pleased to be able to add McFadzean to his promotion chasing group with the big games coming thick and fast over the next month.

“We are delighted to have got Callum on board” said the Brewers boss, “he is a player that we have watched a lot and we are really grateful to Nigel [Clough] at Sheffield United for allowing him to join us.

He can play anywhere down the left hand side, has good quality and his energy and versatility will be a great addition to the squad for this important month."

McFadzean goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game away at Scunthorpe United, and will wear squad number 15.
