Holness confident ahead of Scunthorpe trip
Burton Albion defender Marcus Holness is keen to put last week’s result behind him when the Brewers travel to Scunthorpe United tomorrow.
Albion go to Glanford Park having lost all three points late on last week, but Holness is confident of picking up another win.
“The mood’s been good. We didn’t play as well as we could have done, but I thought we did enough to secure a win. We felt a bit cheated but maybe we could have done more ourselves to put it out of sight,” said Holness.
Holness picked up the sponsors’ Man of the Match vote against the Dons, and the defender believes it’s a sign of good form since he’s returned to the side.
“You could say so. There were a few players in contention, so I was happy to receive it. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to play and I’ve been playing out of my skin and hopefully the fans can see we’re all going in the right direction,” Holness said.
Unbeaten in 21, the Iron are sure to prove a tough test for the Brewers tomorrow, although Holness believes the team’s own promotion credentials will make them a force to be reckoned with.
“They’ve got pacy forwards but I think it’s something we can deal with. We’re pushing for promotion, as are they, so I don’t see why we can’t beat them.
“It is vital because you want to take points off the teams around you so you can push on, but it’s like any other game where we go out there to win.
“When you play away to a top team there’s always a bit of anxiousness but we feel like we can do it this year, and we feel like we can win.”
