ALEX MACDONALD'S THOUGHTS AHEAD OF SHREWSBURY TIE

29 November 2014

“Shrewsbury are a good team, they are near the top of the table. It’s another tough test but it’s one that we’re prepared for and its one were looking forward to so like I said it’s another big game.

Clean sheets are something that the manager has emphasised, he wants us to build from the clean sheet and build a good base which we have, we have defended well, not just the back four or the goalkeeper, it’s the whole team putting a shift in for each other . In this league if you’re keeping clean sheets it’s something you can really build on.

It was something that the manager emphasised to me in pre-season that he wanted me to score more goals and obviously I wanted to score more goals myself so it was something I looked at in the summer and it was something I really wanted to work on and get out to make an aim this year so hopefully there is many more to come.

He’s been really good [Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink] there has been a real buzz around the place. There has been a lot of media and things coming with it but that didn’t make any difference to us. The lads are buzzing working under him, he is a very good coach he is someone we all look up to in terms of what he has done in his career and what he has done in the game.”
