Ben Robson gives his verdict in his new column
Hello and welcome to the young fan's view,
Â
We have made a great start to the season, winning all bar one of our games in all competitions (6 wins, 1 draw). I think we will have a successful season this campaign because we played attacking football and scored lots of goals but conceded lots in the season before last, and then last season we kept lots of clean sheets but didn't score as many so, in theory, we should get the balance right this season and from what I have seen so for we have reason to back up that prediction.
Â
I cannot believe we beat QPR in the second round of the Capital One Cup. I wasn't in attendance at the game (I was on holiday) but from what proof I have it seems that we outplayed them. I have seen the goal, a fine finish, and from my proof it was deserved. On to Brighton at home and hopefully another giant-killing!
Â
I have been impressed with the signings Gary has made, especially John Mousinho, George Taft, Lucas Akins and Stuart Beavon. Mousinho has worked well with Robbie Weir in midfield amid the absence of Lee Bell. He has already won over the fans with his performances and looks like a great coup. Taft is quick, strong, agile and a good defender all round. A fantastic buy. Akins had an immediate impact on his league debut, scoring the winner. I have been impressed with his speed and his movement into the striker's role when high balls come over. It is good we have that aerial threat and at 6 foot, he certainly provides it. Speaking of strikers, Stuart Beavon has filled the void left by Billy Kee's unfortunate departure with some impressive displays. He is our top scorer, with a mighty 2 goals, and he will add to that over the course of this season and more thanks to some good business to bring him in permanently.
Â
To change the topic, I am surprised that Wayne Rooney has been selected as England captain. Personally, I would have picked either Joe Hart or Gary Cahill because I don't believe strikers should be captains, for the simple reason that they cannot see as much of the pitch as a defender or goalkeeper can.
Â
From the squad that Roy has selected, here is my team for the match against Norway:
Â
GK: Forster
LB: Baines
CB: Cahill (C)
CB: Stones
RB: Chambers
DM: Delph
DM: Wilshere
LW: Townsend
CAM: Sterling
RW: Oxlade-Chamberlain
ST: Lambert
Â
And for the team against Switzerland:
Â
GK: Hart
LB: Baines
CB: Cahill
CB: Stones
RB: Chambers
DM: Wilshere
DM: Henderson
LW: Oxlade-Chamberlain
CAM: Rooney (C)
RW: Sterling
ST: Sturridge
Â
I hope they win and I hope Burton keep on winning,
Â
