MANAGER'S VERDICT ON BORO CUP TIE

BREWERS manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was proud of his players despite the 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

"I praised them," he said. "They played really well. We were a little bit unlucky with the two goals.

"We were organised and when we had the ball we were dangerous. We put them under pressure and we were difficult to to break down.

"I thought the boys did themselves proud tonight.

"Middlesbrough have good players, they are a good team. You have to have a good plan, the right plan and I think we did.

"We looked comfortable, especially in the first half, looking for the right moment and when it came, we were good on the ball.

"It was always going to be hard in extra time. We started the first half of extra time well and  I thought we might score but it wasn't meant to be "
