NASSER KNEW HE HAD TO TAKE FREE KICK

20 August 2015

AFTER scoring two vital goals at Blackpool to secure the Brewers first ever away win in League One, Nasser El Khayati has admitted that he might not have taken the free kick winner.

Damien McCrory was also eyeing up the opportunity and Nasser had to make his case to get the chance to take the kick.

He said: “It is normally for a left footer from that side and Damien wanted to take it as well. But I was confident. I told him that it was for me and he let me have it.

“I made the goals but maybe on Saturday it will be someone else. What matters is that it was a very good performance; we all worked really hard, defence, midfield, the strikers held up the ball well. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals just that it was a good overall team performance.

“The fans are behind me and that is giving me a lot of energy. When I hear them screaming my name you get 30 or 40 per cent extra energy.

“At half time at Blackpool the gaffer said we had to not panic and try to play as well. It was a good day and that gives us the confidence to keep going from there.”
