BREWERS defender Antony O’Connor dropped into the Golden Goal Christmas Party at the Pirelli Stadium to answer questions from the fans.
The Golden Goals is a Burton Albion Community Trust activity programme for over 50s which meets weekly.It takes place at the Pirelli Stadium every Wednesday from 10am to noon. The cost is £2 and includes tea and biscuits.
It’s a hugely popular programme and the Tom Bradbury Suite was packed for the annual Christmas party – which saw the group enjoy a festive meal.
The Albion No 19 posed for pictures with Golden Goals members and held a Q&A in which he talked about coming from Ireland to take up a professional career in football - first with Blackburn Rovers before joining the Brewers for the first time on loan.
A Liverpool fans as a boy, O’Connor also revealed that Steven Gerrard is his footballing hero and that David Dunn was a major influence on his game whilst at Blackburn.
Because of the popularity of the Golden Goals programme, there are now additional sessions at:
Uttoxeter Hermitage Centre on Tuesdays from 10am-11am;
BACT Community Hub on Tuesdays from 10am-noon;
Immanuel Hall, Stapenhill, on Thursdays from 9.30am-11.30am
Tutbury Village Hall, on Thursdays from 10am-noon.
