CLOUGH SAID "THEIR HARD WORK STOOD OUT" AFTER TAKING HIS FIRST SESSION

7 December 2015

NIGEL Clough made a welcome return to the Pirelli Stadium this morning as he took his first training session since being appointed manager.

He took over training at St George’s Park with Andy Garner and Gary Crosby, two new faces he has brought to the Brewers.

Clough said “It's nice to have got the first training session out the way, with the man to the right of the (Ben Robinson) still in charge.”

The former Rams manager has taken over the Brewers after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink departed for QPR last week leaving Burton two points clear at the top of the Sky Bet League One table.

“It must be one of the first times since we last left that a Manager has had the chance to take over a club at the top of the League!” Said Clough.

Hasselbaink did leave his players in a good state keeping them fit and hungry for every battle that was in front of them. Talking about the first session, Clough said “Yes it was great.” He added “Their hard work stood out.

“Their very fit and the first training session today was definitely a lot livelier than the one that I had when I first took over Derby.”
